About Hatha Yoga Flow and Pranayama
Hatha Yoga is one of the most widely practiced forms of yoga, built around three pillars: physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation. Often called the yoga of balance, the name itself comes from the Sanskrit words “ha” (sun) and “tha” (moon) — a symbol of the opposites we hold in balance every day, from strength and flexibility to effort and surrender.
At Avata, our Hatha Yoga and Pranayama classes are designed for exactly this: a slower, more deliberate pace that gives you time to settle into each posture while building strength, balance, and calm.
What to Expect
Each class moves through grounded asana sequences designed to align, stretch, and strengthen the body while encouraging steadiness and flexibility. Poses are held with attention rather than rushed through, so you leave with a clearer sense of your own alignment and range of motion.
Pranayama is woven throughout the practice. Drawn from the Sanskrit words “prana” (life force) and “ayama” (expansion or control), pranayama treats the breath as the link between body and mind — consciously regulating it to support a more balanced, harmonized state. Deep, controlled breathing supports relaxation and can help ease everyday stress.
Classes close with a short meditation, a natural extension of the physical practice that gives the mind space to settle after movement.
