About Yin and Restorative Yoga
Yin and Restorative Yoga combines two deeply passive practices into one slow, fully supported class. Yin postures are held for several minutes at a time, targeting the deeper connective tissues — ligaments, tendons, and fascia — while Restorative elements bring generous prop support, allowing the body to fully relax into each shape rather than actively stretching. Together, they create a practice with almost no active movement, designed purely for release and rest.
Key Benefits
- Deep Connective Tissue Release – Long-held Yin postures target ligaments, tendons, and fascia in a way active practices don’t reach.
- Full-Body Relaxation – Generous prop support allows the body to fully let go into each pose.
- Reduced Stress and Anxiety – The slow pace and minimal movement calm the nervous system throughout.
- Improved Flexibility – Sustained holds gradually increase range of motion over time.
- Restores Energy – A deeply restful practice that leaves the body and mind genuinely replenished.
- Accessible to All Levels – No strength or advanced flexibility required — props make every pose accessible.
What to Expect
Class opens with a short centering period before moving into a sequence of long-held postures, each supported by bolsters, blankets, and blocks to allow full relaxation into the shape. Poses are typically held for 3–5 minutes, giving the body time to truly release. There is little to no active movement throughout — the practice is entirely about surrender and stillness. Class closes with an extended rest period to let the effects settle in.
