1. Who We Are
Website: https://avatawellness.com
Welcome to Avata Wellness (“we,” “us,” or “our”), a member of the Royal Mountain Group family. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information safely and responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our website or our yoga, spa, retreat, event, and dining (Nourish by Avata) services.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Booking & Contact Information:
When you book a class, treatment, retreat, event, or table, or contact us, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, and payment details.
2.2 Health/Wellness Information:
To help us guide you safely through a yoga class, spa treatment, or retreat, you may voluntarily share relevant health information (e.g., injuries, conditions, allergies). This is used only to inform our instructors/therapists and deliver the service safely — never for marketing.
2.3 Comments:
If you leave a comment on our site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (a “hash”) may be shared with the Gravatar service to check if you use it — see Gravatar’s privacy policy. If your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible publicly alongside it.
2.4 Media:
If you upload images to the site, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS) — visitors can download and extract location data from images on the website.
2.5 Non-Personal Information:
We may collect non-personal data such as IP address, browser type, operating system, and browsing behaviour.
3. Cookies
- If you comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience on future comments. These last for one year.
- If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie checks whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
- If you log in, we set cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days (two weeks with “Remember Me”); screen option cookies last one year. Logging out removes login cookies.
- Editing or publishing an article sets an additional cookie containing only the post ID, expiring after one day.
- General site cookies (analytics, booking forms) can be disabled via your browser settings, though this may affect site functionality.
4. Embedded Content
Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, maps, social posts). Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website directly — it may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with it, including tracking your interaction if you’re logged into that website.
5. How We Use Your Information
- To process bookings for classes, treatments, retreats, events, or Nourish reservations, and manage your account
- To send booking confirmations, service-related updates, and — with your consent — promotional materials (you can opt out anytime)
- To analyse site usage and improve functionality
- To comply with applicable laws and regulations
6. Who We Share Your Data With
- Instructors and therapists delivering your booked class, treatment, or retreat receive relevant details, including any health information you’ve shared.
- Service providers who support our operations (payment processors, booking platforms, email services) — obligated to use your data only for the purpose it was shared.
- If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email.
- Comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We may disclose information if required by law or a valid legal request.
7. How Long We Retain Your Data
- Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely, so follow-up comments from recognized users can be approved automatically rather than held in moderation.
- If you register an account, we store the personal information in your profile. You can see, edit, or delete it anytime (except your username); administrators can also see and edit it.
- Booking and service records are retained as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined here, or as required by law.
8. Your Rights
If you have an account, or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, or request that we erase it — except data we’re obliged to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes. You can also opt out of marketing communications anytime.
9. Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children’s Privacy
Some of our offerings (e.g., Kids Yoga) may involve minors, whose information is provided and managed by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without parental consent.
11. Third-Party Links
Our website may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and encourage you to review their policies.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy occasionally to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Significant changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the website after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
